one always has a way
to spend some time:
waiting becomes
observation
discovery
expression
revision
no devil’s workshop here
one always has
the means to climb out of
this electronic skinner box
and breath in
creation

slynne and rel – I wrote this while waiting to meet my daughter at the local b&n cafe. (I always have a pad and pen with me.) I sat there thinking about the Poetry Thursday prompt and this came out.

Hello,
I have always disliked the expression “killing time”. Your phrase “waiting becomes/observation/discovery/
expression/revision” created a lovely way of positively expressing a different way of looking at spaces of time. Thank you.

hey Deb. I also dislike the term “killing time”. Just as I dislike the phrase, “I’m bored” . It is sad we raise spectators more than thinkers in today’s society.
